Although as a Burmese, Saw Benjamin Htoo, alias Ben Htoo, was born in Singapore on January 11, 1988. Apparently, he had been residing there longer than any of his other hometowns, mainly Yangon (Burma) and Chiang Mai (Thailand). He mostly attended American international schools, as he had been increasingly fond of the American lifestyle and culture.What really inspired Ben to get into animation business was the distinctive drawing style of legendary veteran animator Chuck Jones. Subsequently, that inspiration evolved into a commitment of making hand-drawn feature films at Walt Disney Animation Studios when its newly appointed Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter allowed filmmakers to utilize hand-drawn animation in film productions. It led Ben to Raffles Design Institute (Singapore), where he not only can be close to his family, but likewise took a 2-year Advanced Diploma in Multimedia Design course, followed by a year-long Bachelor's Degree in Animation course. From 2011 to 2015, Ben tried several methods of carving his path to Disney Animation, mainly its own Apprenticeship program and Pixar internship program - all to no avail. Currently, his best bet is Academy of Art University, where he hopes to be more professional than ever to accomplish his life-long dream.
