During my undergraduate years, I have served as a teaching assistant for an introductory psychology class and have tutored over 200 students on a vast array of topics related to psychology. In this position, I also completed study objectives to better guide students, and I helped students internalize and encouraged them to learn through self-scaffolding. Due to my strong passion for the English language, I am known to provide proof-reading and other language-building help to people as and when they need it. I also teach English (ESL) to foreign students, whose first language is not English. From these experiences, I am certain that I will be an asset to students' students 'learning goals.Teaching is my passion, and I am excited to contribute as a tutor on this platform.
English tutoring-
As previously mentioned, I offer informal teaching in English to Foreign students. I am also familiar with the Orton-Gillingham reading method and I have adopted its principles into my work with students. I have found that all students benefit from my use of different teaching techniques: combining verbal and visual directions and clues, using and repeating clear directions, etc. Therefore, I am well-versed in helping students whose first language is not English learn to speak, understand, read, and write English. Again, I also employ positive reinforcement theory here to actively reinforce the desired learning behaviors in ESL students.
